Day 14: The FB Group Prompt Strategy
How Nick Loper added 7,000+ subscribers through a simple group join prompt.
Welcome to Day 14 of the 30 Days of Growth. This is a pop-up newsletter put together by Chenell from Growth In Reverse. I've pulled 30 creators together to help give one short, actionable way you can either grow or improve your email list.
Nick Loper runs one of the most popular Facebook groups about side hustles.
Thousands of people find it organically every month.
But here’s where it grows his email list: Before anyone joins, they’re prompted to enter their email address.
That one field has added 7,000+ subscribers to his list.
No ads. No landing page. No fancy funnel.
🔍 How Nick Does It
Nick runs the Side Hustle Nation Facebook group, which continues to grow organically through Facebook’s discovery features.
When people request to join, they’re asked an optional question: “Want our best side hustle ideas sent to your inbox? Drop your email below.”
Many do.
That one question, offered at the right moment, has added over 7,000 subscribers to his list.
To make things seamless, he uses a Chrome extension called Group Leads, which pulls those responses and sends them to Kit automatically.
But the core engine here isn’t the tool.
It’s the community – a high-traffic destination where people are already looking to take action.
Now let’s get past some objections:
That’s a lot of work. Yea, it can be, but Nick now runs this pretty hands-off and it’s still working. He’s got a few moderators to help with spam, and other than that he doesn’t do a ton. Also, work isn’t always a bad thing 🙂
Facebook is dead. I used to think this too, but man is it THRIVING.
📊 Results
7,000+ subscribers collected through the Facebook group join flow
100% organic traffic, no ad spend
Fully automated once set up
One of the highest-performing opt-in channels for Nick over time
🧠 Why It Works
Organic traffic becomes email growth. People already want to join — this turns that action into a list-building opportunity
The ask feels natural. You’re catching them mid-action when curiosity is high
No new content required. It runs quietly in the background, with no extra funnels or lead magnets
High intent. These aren’t cold leads — they’re people who already want what you offer
💡 How You Can Implement It
Build a group around a specific need. Focus on a topic where people are actively seeking help or ideas. Yes, it can be some work to get up and running, but you can also “seed” the group with people on your email list so you’re not starting from zero.
Make the group searchable and welcoming. Use keywords in your name and description to help it surface in Facebook search.
Add a join question. Offer something simple like “Want more help with [topic]? Drop your email below and I’ll send over a few ideas.”
Connect the responses. Use Group Leads or another method to pull those emails into your email platform.
Tag and welcome. Add a basic tag or sequence so you know they came from the community and can follow up accordingly.
💡 If you’re enjoying this series, would you mind taking a second to let me know? 🙂

💭 Final Thought
Your community doesn’t just have to live on Facebook.
It can power your email list, deepen relationships, and drive real growth if you give people a clear path to connect.
